Take a Vacation with Meaning on the Gulf Coast!

Many of our volunteers could be considered “VolunTourists”, donating a plane ticket and valuable vacation time to visit the Gulf Coast, not in pursuit of sun and fun, but rather for the joys and reward of reaching out to fellow Americans in need of a helping hand. Some commit as few as three or four days, others a week or more, working with residents and other volunteers united in the goal of restoring lives and whole communities. The heartfelt, life-changing connections they make lead many to volunteer again and again. You can see them in action in this photo gallery, and many of their personal stories are captured in our blog.

Vacations that make a difference are precisely what Gulf Coast Works is all about, whether it’s going on an organized work trip with your school or church, spending a week or more rebuilding a home, or lending a hand more informally on a variety of tasks, from gardening to helping re-stock a school library to working in a distribution center to interviewing residents who need guidance through the complex maze of recovery.
